Children's author and West End Actress Emma Swan grew up on cruise ships! Her parents worked onboard and like her protagonist, Silver, she spent a lot of her childhood being ‘ship-schooled,’ while travelling the globe.
Emma’s first children’s book ‘Cruise Ship Kid Thief at Sea’ is based on her own experiences of living onboard.
As an actor, Emma works frequently with Horrible Histories. Her other acting credits include the RSC and Doctor Who. Emma also narrates many audiobooks and has a very professional studio in her flat that may or may not be made out of sofa cushions and a duvet. Originally from Rotherham, she also has a slightly unhealthy Yorkshire tea addiction!
The heart of the series is the importance of the relationship between our oldest and youngest generations... and cake. Lots of cake. 'Cruise Ship Kid' will be published by Usborne on 1st July 2025.
Some people have comp’d Emma’s series ‘Cruise Ship Kid’ as Richard Osman’s ‘Thursday Murder Club’ for kids.
